The Laguna and the 1007 are surprises as I see a lot of them.

Chrysler should bring the Stilo over here. Fuck Mercedes for only giving us the CLA sedan and not the A-class hatchback, and we totally missed out on the first A-class which is s fucking awesome cute lil car.
The X-Type is the best Jag ever, luxury prestigious wagon with a cute cat on the hood and even a manual transmission available, even in the US!
Nissan should've brought the VelSatis over here, and make our Maxima your Laguna.

None of these were the successes the manufacturers thought they would be, so I do get it somewhat. That's excluding the Phaeton and Veyron obviously, as they served a different purpose.
Where did you get these numbers from? Are they UK-market only or Europe wide?

I got them from Autocar. I doubt they're UK-only because the Phaeton is mentioned as a current model.

Maybe you'd like its replacement instead, the Fiat Bravo. It's a bit stale and has always been an also-ran, but it's still available.

This is the only top ten list that will ever have a Smart ForTwo, a Veyron, and a Peugeot 1007 together.

Very interesting. Makes you wonder how many they needed to have sold to offset the development costs.
With the exception of the Veyron, I'm assuming that's the main thing affecting the losses per car.
It also makes you wonder what other cars made losses. It's not as if they didn't sell a ton of Smart cars over the years, yet they still made a loss.

I'm actually amazed a couple of these lost so much money. The A Class sold pretty well in the UK, even though it was quite horrible by Mercedes standards. The X Type had a lot of sales also, the diesel estate/wagon seems very successful and don't depreciate as quick as the petrol ones. Also, Jaguar had most of the X-Type borrowed from a Ford Mondeo so why the development bills so high?
The Stilo is a shame, never actually been in one but I think they look rather well styled, certainly my favorite modern Fiat. The rest are fairly predictable, the Laguna has been fading into obscurity for a while now. The Peugeot 407 really took over the French sedan/wagon market. Loyal Renault buyers opted for the cheaper Megane over the Laguna it would appear.
Shame about the A2 also, cute and cool little car.

The Bravo looks cool! I'm surprised Chrysler doesn't sell it over here as like a cheaper entry into either Dodge or Fiat brands.

Yeah the Stilo is well-styled; that's where they got the name from :p

It's a compact, so it would be a direct competitor to the Dart. The car Fiat/Chrysler could introduce is the Punto, which is a subcompact. The problem with both is that they're old, the Bravo was introduced in 2007, the Punto in 2005. Fiat needs replacements, and soon.
